inquiries & volunteers

Many thanks for reaching out. We hope this roadmap is helpful as you explore opportunities for yourself and community.

General Inquiries

General inquiries can begin with the About Us page for the 30,000 ft. view of the Citizen Corps Council.

Volunteers

Volunteers can be on one or more of several teams – depending on your interests, skills, and team focus.

We love volunteers - but we want to help you get involved with the best fit for you.

To help narrow it down – there are three (3) major activity categories for you to consider:

Neighborhoods or Communities

1. Programs implemented by neighborhoods or communities. Namely,

  •   Neighborhood Watch
  •   Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
  •   Citizen Patrols.

County or Regional Action teams

2. Action teams for large scale county or regional impacts. Namely,

  • Medical Reserve Corps
  • Fire Reserve Corps
  • Amateur Radio Emergency Services
  • Shelter Staffing
  • Civil Air Patrol.

Council Administration

3. Council administration to support the Community programs and Action teams. Namely,

  • Community Relations
  • Education/Training facilitation
  • Volunteer liaison.

If you have interest, prior experience and /or training in any of the listed activities – check them off and filter through the following to find what hits the mark.

For category (1):

Does your neighborhood / community already have one or more of the programs – or wants to implement or refresh one.

To implement a Neighborhood Watch or Citizen Patrol – both are handled by the HC Sheriff’s Office. Our “Neighborhood” https://citizencorpscouncilhc.com/neighborhood page has the links.  Be sure to scroll down to your HCSO district to find the Watch Deputy for your neighborhood. The Council will gladly help along the way.

To form a CERT group – is more complicated and a local sponsor is needed - we can facilitate it – let us know.

If YOU want to join one that already exist – we can point you to its coordinator.

In either case - please identify your community or neighborhood.

For category (2):

Each has its own host agency and scope of service. Brief descriptions and links to the hosts are on our “Community” https://citizencorpscouncilhc.com/community page. Host representatives are Council members and can also help. We do not want to lose touch with you – so keep us in the loop.

For category (3):

“What the Council Does” https://citizencorpscouncilhc.com/about-us is handled by individuals who enjoy the Council’s “big” picture and the synergy among Affiliates and Associates that can benefit over 2,000 neighborhoods throughout the County and three (3) cities. If you love to reach-out to Neighborhoods, plug residents into resources / education / training, or work with volunteers – your Council needs you.

Now that you narrowed down your options – shoot us an email from the “Contact Us” page – so we can take the next step.
